The Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) has achieved a milestone by completing 1,000 robotic surgeries within a span of three years.

The milestone surgeries were distributed across several medical specialties, including the Urology Department with 590 operations, Surgical Gastroenterology with 248 operations, and Surgical Oncology with 162 operations.

The robotic

procedures included complex surgeries for prostate, bladder, kidney transplants, liver, pancreas, intestines, ovaries, and uterus, as well as critical cancer treatments.

More than 90 per cent of these 1,000 robotic surgeries were provided completely free of charge to patients through government welfare schemes, including Aarogyasri and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), NIMS Hospital said on Monday.
