The Hyderabad unit of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken up investigation into the attack on YSRCP president Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy with a knife in the VIP lounge of the Visakhapatnam airport in October 2018.

An attempt to murder case was registered under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code based on a complaint lodged by CISF Assistant Commandant Dinesh Kumar who was a security

officer at the airport.

The NIA has taken up investigation following directions from the High Court. The court gave these directions while responding to a petition filed by the YSRCP seeking a detailed probe by the NIA.

The Andhra Pradesh police earlier arrested one person, J. Srinivasa Rao, in connection with the attack.
