The Nehru Zoological Park, which remained closed on Thursday due to inundation, will be shut down for visitors on Friday as well.Heavy rains brought in huge inflows into the Mir Alam tank and to ensure that animals are not infected, officials are treating drinking water and feed of the animals with antibiotics.
Bleaching powder has been mixed with water in moats which surround animal enclosures. Besides, to keep the animals warm during the damp and cold nights, heaters have been provided in their

enclosures.
Zoo officials fear that if the animals, especially herbivores, drink stagnant water in moats or other places, it would lead to many of them getting sick.Constant vigil is being maintained to check the water level in the moats and excess of water is being pumped out of the day crawls and night enclosures where animals are released.
Officials said that herbivores animals like Deer, Black Bucks, Cheetal and others are most susceptible to infections due to inundation.
