Hyderabad city celebrated World Snake Day at the Nehru Zoological Park with a special event at the Reptile House Amphitheatre. Over 700 students and 600 visitors attended. The event highlighted the importance of snakes in nature and aimed to dispel common myths.

A live demonstration by Education Officer M Deepak Tarun was a key part of the day. He explained snake habitats, behaviors, and how to identify various species, including venomous and non-venomous ones. Attendees also learned about preventing snake bites



and practical identification methods.

The park hosts around 20 snake species, including the King Cobra, Spectacled Cobra, and Indian Rock Python. Other reptiles like the Green Iguana and Bengal Monitor Lizard are also present.

Dr. Sunil S Hiremath, Director of Zoo Parks Telangana, noted that Nehru Zoological Park was the first in India to use glass barriers in its reptile house, enhancing visitor experience. He praised the zoo staff for their work in raising awareness on ecological days.
