Prime Minister Narendra Modi has agreed in principle to allot the historic Bison Polo Grounds in Secunderabad for construction of new State Legislature, Secretariat and other facilities.

Minister for Roads and Buildings Thummala Nageswara Rao said moves were afoot to hand over the 55-acre land for the purpose. The Chief Minister had taken up the issue with the Centre and had got the nod. The government is keen on taking up the construction at the earliest and start functioning from the

new building.

The Chief Minister was planning to accommodate the Legislature and Secretariat in iconic structures built with impressive designs, and was keen on having facilities for celebrating Independence Day and other occasions of State and national importance in the vicinity of the Secretariat, the Minister said. A cultural centre is also being planned in the same venue. The new State Assembly complex and Secretariat will reflect the glory of the State.
