Officials of the Food Safety Wing of the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) have imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 on MasterChef Restaurant at Uppal Cross Road for violations of food safety norms.
On Wednesday, officials conducted an inspection, identified food safety violations and issued a notice to the management, according to a press release.
During the inspection, officials found a heavy presence of flies and cockroaches in the storeroom and dining area. They also found non-vegetarian food items stored without maintaining proper temperature and hygiene standards, while
food was kept uncovered, creating a risk of cross-contamination. The refrigerator temperature logs were not maintained, food-handling staff were not following personal hygiene practices, and dustbins were being used without lids, the release said.
The storeroom was found to be highly unhygienic, and no pest control records were being maintained, the MMC said.
Officials also advised all hotels, restaurants, bakeries and other food business operators to strictly follow the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and provide consumers with clean and hygienic food.
