MLAs expulsion case adjourned to April 3

Wed 28 Mar 2018, 12:10:16
The High Court adjourned the case of expelled Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar to April 3 as the advocates from both sides failed to attend the Court for arguments.

While hearing the arguments, the Court asked the additional advocate general G Ramachandra Rao that it will not give four weeks time to the government and made it clear that already the government took much time on it. The High Court directed the government to file a counter within one week.

Reacting on it, AAG said that he was an advocate on behalf of the

state government but not on behalf of Legislative Assembly. He also informed the Court that he has no right to suggest the Assembly to appoint the advocate to argue the case. On the other hand, the petitioner’s counsel quoted the Madras High Court case and said that AAG has the right to advice the Assembly to appoint a counsel to argue the case. The AAG made it clear that the government was not ready to give video records.

The Court recorded AAG’s argument and directed the AAG to file a counter on April 3 with the available documents.
