The mindless decisions of the Congress government have triggered a revenue decline and crumbling of the real estate market in Telangana, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said, also charging Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with misuse of HYDRAA as a blackmail tool for political and monetary gains, rather than for vigilance, enforcement and regulation for public benefit.

Addressing members of the Telangana Realtors Forum at Satya Sai Nigamagamam in Srinagar Colony here on Tuesday, Rama Rao lashed out at Revanth Reddy for using HYDRAA to intimidate builders and individuals to extort money.

He said the government prioritised sending moneybags to Delhi, rather than stabilising Telangana’s economy.

“The Congress government’s actions restricted money flow in the market, with adverse impact on the State’s economic health. While ongoing real estate projects are being cancelled, no one wants to start new ones,” he said

The BRS working president argued that HYDRAA, orginally the State’s Enforcement and Vigilance wing rebranded by the Congress government, had now become synonymous with fear among the business community as well as common people.

He demanded to know who was responsible for demolitions by HYDRAA that led to financial and emotional suffering of people. “The mere mention of HYDRAA sends shivers down people’s spines. The builders are scared to name their projects as Lake View. This has become a nightmare for realtors,” he said.

The former Municipal

Administration Minister also questioned the absence of the 21-day clearance guarantee under the TS-bPASS system that was instituted by the previous BRS government to ensure efficiency and transparency in development projects. Rather than State development, he said the Chief Minister was busy sending funds to his Delhi bosses and saving his post.

Recalling the decade-long BRS rule, Rama Rao said farmers, landowners, and developers experienced growth and stability. He noted that land value in the State was very low and irrigation was scarce before 2014. But under K Chandrashekhar Rao, the BRS government not only ensured uninterrupted power supply, but also transformed the State’s infrastructure with irrigation projects that led to wealth creation.

He reminded that people raised doubts about Telangana’s survival and sustainability, but Chandrashekhar Rao proved them wrong.

He reiterated that BRS policies under Chandrashekhar Rao were aimed at development and progress, but not such blackmail tactics. In stark contrast, he criticised the Congress government for targeting people through HYDRAA’s actions, which he said was destabilising Telangana’s real estate sector and hurting investors’ confidence.

“People from different parts and professions of the State regret having voted for the Congress due to its anti-people decisions,” he added, urging the realtors to stand united and assured to hold Congress accountable for its anti-Telangana policies. He vowed that the BRS would fight these tactics in the legislature and beyond.
