Hyderabad:  Two steps forward one step back. This seems to be the state of affairs of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project. The project would go through the original route informed V B Gadgil, Managing Director, L&T Metro Rail.

“We are moving as per the agreement and it is between two parties. The Metro Rail will go through Sultan Bazaar and Assembly and discussions are on for the Old City,” he said.

When asked if L&T received a written letter, Gadgil said that communication is as per the agreement in the contract between two parties.



10pt;">Meanwhile, Sultan Bazaar Traders Union representatives held a meeting and are planning to call for a bandh on November 27. Suman Gupta of Sultan Bazaar Traders Joint action Committee said, “The government has gone back on its word. Before TRS came to power, the Chief Minister promised the traders that Sultan Bazaar would not be affected.”

If this proposal goes through, more than 70 buildings and 300 traders at Sultan Bazaar would be affected.

L &T unveiled the sample station retail stores at Nagole on Thursday. Interestingly, N V S Reddy, MD, HMR, was conspicuous by his absence.According to sources he did not attend citing code of conduct due to elections.
