Meta India Head Named in FIR Over Morphed PM Modi Posts

Hyderabad Cybercrime Police have registered two FIRs against the head of Meta India and the operators of several Facebook and Instagram accounts over the alleged circulation of morphed and objectionable images and videos targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi during protests over the student paper leak issue. 

According to police, the cases relate to content shared on Meta-owned platforms during demonstrations led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which spearheaded nationwide protests demanding



accountability over the examination paper leak controversy. 

Authorities alleged that manipulated visuals and objectionable posts aimed at the Prime Minister were widely circulated through multiple social media accounts.

The action comes days after the Centre sought an explanation from Meta over the temporary removal of Prime Minister Modi's Facebook video addressing the paper leak issue, with the company attributing the incident to a technical error and expressing regret.
