A meeting on arrangements to be made for the upcoming Muharram month was held here on Sunday.

Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali and Minister for Minorities Welfare Koppula Eshwar along with the officials from various government departments participated in the meeting. Public representatives from the city and religious leaders belonging to various sects of the Muslim community also attended the meeting.

Eshwar who interacted with the members of the Shia community assured that all arrangements would be made by the State



government. Last year, the Muharram arrangements were not done on a big scale in view of the Covid-19 and related restrictions on gatherings.

On representation of the Shia community members to the Minister for Minorities, an amount of Rs 50 lakh was allocated by the TS Wakf Board for making arrangements.

In the meeting AK Khan, Advisor to Government on Minorities Affairs, Ahmed Nadeem, Principal Secretary Minorities Welfare Department and other officials also participated.
