Medaram Jatara to be held from Feb 5 to 8 next year

The biennial Medaram Sammakka-Sarakka maha jatara will be held from February 5 to 8 next year. The dates were finalised at Medaram on Sunday by a group of Vaddes (Koya priests). While Sarakka (Saralamma), Pagididdaraju and Govindarju will be brought to the Gaddes (sacred platforms) on



Feb 5, Sammakka will be brought to the Gadde from Chilakalagutta the next day. Devotees can offer prayers to the tribal goddesses on Feb 7 and the jatara will conclude with the reentry of the goddesses into the forest on Feb 8.
