At a time when the students enrolment in government schools went down drastically across the state, a few teachers with the help of respective village sarpanches and villagers had made all out efforts to increase the enrolment.

In one such move, two villages in Nizampet mandal went a step ahead and banned entry of private school buses into their villages. The result was immediate as the enrolment in these government schools increased considerably.

K Sampath, teacher at primary school Khasimpur, said that the strength came down to four in the school at the end of 2024-25 academic year when he was posted here.

Nearly 30 primary

school aged students were going to different private schools located in Nizampet mandal headquarters from this tiny village which hardly had 300 population.

After talking to local sarpanch and other villagers, he motivated the villagers to ban the private schools from entering Khasimpur in June 2025. The strength immediately increased to 19.

After two 5th class students cracked the Navodaya School entrance examination this year, the strength further swelled to 24 this year.

Similarly, the neighbouring Shoukathpally also banned the entry of private school buses into their village. The strength in the school increased to 30 from 14.
