The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has decided to release surplus water from the Manjeera barrage, one of the city’s drinking water sources, at any time on Wednesday.

The move follows the Irrigation Department’s decision to release floodwater from the Singur

project.

“Due to heavy rain forecasts in the upstream areas of the Singur project and an inflow of 5,000 cusecs of floodwater, the Irrigation Department announced that water would be released into the river at any time on Wednesday through the project’s powerhouse and gates,” an HMWSSB official said.
