A surveyor and his private assistant were arrested by sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly collecting a bribe of Rs 7,500 from a farmer to demarcate land and to give panchanama on the premises of the Nirmal Rural mandal Tahsildar’s office on Tuesday.

Varma and his assistant Pola Thirupathi were apprehended while accepting the bribe through the private assistant when the sleuths laid a trap to nab them.

The complainant approached the sleuths when the surveyor harassed him, demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000. He had already paid Rs 5,000 to Balakrishna to do the official favor.
