Mancherial woman ends life due to heavy losses in farming

A 35-year-old woman tenant farmer died by suicide at Kothavaripet village in Kasipet mandal on Saturday, reportedly distressed over her inability to repay mounting loans after suffering heavy losses in farming. 

The incident came to light on Sunday.

Police said Gunda Sridevi took the extreme step as she was



disheartened by losses caused by unfavourable climatic conditions. 

She had cultivated paddy on four acres and cotton on eight acres, all leased from local landowners through loans, but a sharp fall in yield left her with heavy losses. 

The total loan amount is yet to be ascertained. Case  registered.
