A man allegedly stole an RTC-hired bus that was parked at the Jangaon bus stand while under the influence of alcohol.

The accused, identified as Venkanna, a native of Chennur Village, Palakurthy Mandal, Jangaon district, a tractor driver, reportedly wanted to travel to Tirupati.

He first visited a nearby railway station twice, but was informed that no trains were available at that time. He then came to the Jangaon bus stand, where he noticed an RTC-hired bus parked on the premises.

Venkanna allegedly entered the bus and managed to start it using the vehicle's

toolkit. He then drove the bus along the Suryapet route for about 21 kilometres.

The incident came to light after the bus met with an accident near the Singarajupalli toll plaza. According to reports, Venkanna hit the divider while attempting to reverse the bus.

Toll plaza staff became suspicious when he repeatedly rammed the divider and was unable to reverse the vehicle properly.

The toll plaza authorities stopped the bus and found that Venkanna was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Police reached the spot and took him into custody.
