A 34-year-old driver from Warasiguda was sentenced to seven days in jail by a local court on Thursday for misusing the 112-emergency response number and abusing police staff.
The accused, identified as Wardha Satish, a resident of Ramnagar under Warasiguda police station limits, was found guilty of repeatedly calling the emergency helpline and using obscene language, thereby wasting the time of emergency services
personnel.
According to police, the CDO functional vertical division registered an e-petty case against Satish after multiple complaints of harassment through unnecessary calls to 112, the number meant for immediate police assistance during emergencies.
Satish was later produced before the 12th Special Judicial Magistrate. B.V. Nagender Reddy, who heard the case, held the accused guilty under City Police Act and BNS.
