A young man died by suicide allegedly after being publicly humiliated over a small debt in Yousufguda.
According to Madhuranagar police, Bhukya Balaji (28), a native of Raghavapur in Suryapet district, was living in Jawaharnagar with his wife Manasa. Another couple from his native place, Saidulu and Durga, were also staying in the same area.
Two years ago, Balaji had lent Rs 1,000 to Durga. On September 17, he encountered the couple in a
market and asked them to return the money. Enraged by it, the couple allegedly abused him, and Durga even struck Balaji with her slipper in full public view.
Deeply humiliated, Balaji went home and on Thursday when his wife was away had hanged himself from a ceiling fan. When Manasa returned, she found the door locked.
When seen through the window, Balaji was found hanging inside.
Madhuranagar police are investigating.
