The Malkajgiri police recovered as many as 1,039 mobile phones, worth Rs 2.08 crore, which were either lost or stolen and returned them to their owners on Thursday.

The police used Central Equipment Identity Registry (CEIR) portal facility to trace the mobile phones.

special teams were formed with personnel from LB Nagar and Malkajgiri police stations and with the help of IT Cell staff, the phones were recovered using CEIR.

According to officials, while 739 mobile phones were recovered from LB Nagar limits, 300 phones were recovered from Malkajgiri limits. All this, in the span of six months.
