The Telangana Congress continued its criticism of BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao even on a festival day, accusing him of neglecting the welfare and development of the Dalit community in the State.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan on Vinayaka Chavithi, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said circumstances sometimes compelled the party to discuss politics even on a festival day.
“BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao never seriously worked towards the upliftment of the Dalit community. Dalit Bandhu was introduced solely
for the Huzurabad by-election,” he charged.
He also questioned how many people had actually benefited from the Dalit Bandhu scheme. He made the remarks without referring to the Congress’ promise to increase the financial assistance under the scheme from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.
“Mere installation of a towering Ambedkar statue is not sufficient. The great man’s advice and values must be put into practice. A white paper must be released concerning the promises made by BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao,” he demanded.
