Noted educationist and food connoisseur Mahbub Alam Khan demanded that the Congress government initiate action against those who had encroached upon the graveyard land at Erragadda in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency.

“The land grabbers have blocked the main entrance to the Erragadda graveyard by encroaching on the land. The Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy should get criminal cases registered against these encroachers, who are backed by politicians, and take strict action against them,” he said.

A controversy had erupted over the Erragadda graveyard after

the district administration and minority leaders of the Congress party broke the compound wall and allowed burials on the land. However, local residents approached the court against the allocation of the land for the burial ground, citing security concerns. The main entrance to the graveyard, reportedly existing for the last 40 years, has been blocked by a factory.

“In the survey sheets, all graveyards in the city are marked, and documents are available with the archives department and other government offices. The government should examine these and identify encroachments,” Khan said.
