Lorry load of Urea bags hijacked in Nalgonda

A full lorry-load of urea, allocated for farmers in the Miryalaguda assembly constituency, was allegedly hijacked and sold in the blackmarket diverted, leading to widespread protests. A gunman working for Miryalaguda MLA Bathula Laxma Reddy was suspected to be the mastermind behind the episode.

Sources in the agriculture department revealed that the gunman, identified as Nagu Naik, impersonated the MLA’s personal assistant and pressured officials. 

He claimed the shipment was needed for “official use” and redirected the



lorry bound for the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society concerned. The urea, crucial for top-dressing Kharif paddy, was reportedly sold in the black market adding to the crisis.

The scam surfaced when officials cross-checked records after the MLA inquired about supplies for his constituency. The MLA was appraised of his gunman’s unauthorized calls and bullying tactics.

Superintendent of Police, Sharatchandra Pawar has taken serious note of the issue and ordered an immediate probe into the diversion and the role of the gunman.
