Officials cracked down on a popular sweets and savoury shop in the district headquarters in Telangana, after a customer found a lizard in a packet of mixture sold purchased from the store.
As per reports, the incident of the lizard found in the ‘khara’ mixture packet sold at Balaji Sweet House went viral on social media.
Acting on the complaints, District Food Safety Officer (FSO) Anusha led a surprise inspection at the sweet house. During the raid, officials found snacks being prepared in highly
unhygienic conditions, in clear violation of food safety norms.
The team seized expired and substandard food items stored at the manufacturing unit.
The seized stock was immediately disposed of. FSO officials announced that both the manufacturing unit and the sales outlet have been completely sealed, and a fine of Rs 1 lakh was imposed on the management for violating safety regulations.
