Liquor sales in Telangana witnessed a massive surge during the New Year celebrations, with sales amounting to nearly Rs 1,000 crore within just three days, officials revealed.

According to official data, liquor worth Rs 1,350 crore was sold across the state over the last six days.

During the peak three-day festive period, as many as

8.30 lakh cases of liquor and 7.78 lakh cases of beer were sold, reflecting the high demand ahead of and during the New Year.

Excise department officials attributed the spike to extended celebrations, increased footfall at liquor outlets, and heightened festive demand. The surge in sales also resulted in a significant boost to the state exchequer through excise revenue.
