A laser beam light flashed at Shamshabad caused obstruction to the pilot in safely landing the flight at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). A plane landing at Shamshabad airport from Frankfurt was hit by a laser light at night.
The pilot immediately informed the ATC officials and the authorities have launched an investigation into the laser lights hitting the plane. A few minutes later, the flight landed safely at the RGIA, according to sources.
The
laser lights flashed during marriage ceremonies at function halls in Shamshabad and its surroundings continued to cause obstruction to the pilots. This was the second incident that took place at the RGIA.
In February 2026, a laser beam light pointing to the runway triggered a scare among officials from RGIA and Air Traffic Control (ATC). The laser pointers were reportedly used during a reception party under Shamshabad rural police station limits and the area comes under the rear of the airport.
