BRS working president KT Rama Rao warned the Central government against any attempt to reduce the representation of southern States during the proposed delimitation exercise. He said such a move could trigger a massive people’s movement across South India.
Reiterating that the party’s position has remained unchanged for the past three years, he asserted that the BRS will oppose any move that weakens the political voice of the southern States
in Parliament.
In a statement, Rama Rao argued that southern States, which have performed well in terms of economic growth and population control, should not be penalised by reducing their representation in the Parliament. He reminded that they were all proud Indians and representatives of the best performing states of India. “Any such move is contrary to democratic values and will amount to suppressing the voices of progressive States,” he said.
