With Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi accusing the BJP-led Centre of “Vote Chori”, BRS working president KT Rama Rao turned the charge back on the Congress. He questioned whether making grand promises during the Telangana elections and failing to deliver was not the same.
Referring to the Congress manifesto and its much-publicised six guarantees, Rama Rao said the party made 420 promises and even projected its six guarantees as
binding by signing on stamp papers, getting elected on false declarations and vowing to implement them within 100 days of forming government.
“After securing votes and seats, when it comes to delivering on the same, they do a Houdini act and disappear. How is this not vote chori, Rahul Gandhi ji?” he asked, stating that the ruling party’s failure to honour its commitments was eroding public trust and would have electoral consequences.
