MA&UD Minister K T Rama Rao said there was no word from the Centre on the appeal made by Telangana government for supply of additional vaccine doses.

In view of increasing Covid-19 cases, the Minister appealed to the people to be cautious and cooperate with the government in containing the spread of the virus. He, however, ruled out the possibility of imposing a complete lockdown.

The Minister chatted with Netizens on a variety of topics with #Ask KTR on his Twitter handle on Sunday. The session, which went on for over 90 minutes was trending on social network website with over 10,000 tweets being tweeted by different people.

From films, cricket to politics, the Minister fielded a wide variety of questions from Twiterrati. On Central government assistance to States, the Minister said a State on its own can’t set up semi-conductors industry as it requires lot of investment. “This is where the Central government should pitch in and extend the required push,” he said.

In the present scenario, to compete with a nation like China, scale has to be high, he said, adding that unfortunately, there was no support for Telangana’s Kakatiya Textile park or Pharma city projects from Central Government, he said.

Regarding Bengal elections, he said ultimately democracy should win. On Nagarjuna Sagar bypolls, the Minister was confident that people would extend their support to TRS. “It is a contest between K Jana Reddy, who represents past and Nomula Bhagat, who represents future,” said Rama Rao.

Responding to a query regarding the long-pending plan to set up turmeric board in Nizamabad, the Minister wanted the question to be posed to the person who assured to get the sanction for setting up the Board and even signed a bond paper.

He said all efforts will be made to expose the false claims and campaigns being carried out by the BJP



through social media. Constituency wise meetings would be convened with TRS social media warriors shortly, he shared.

He said owing to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s vision and policies, many companies were investing in the State and hoped the trend to continue this year as well.

The Minister reminded that Telangana was the only State in the country which was extending financial assistance and offering free rice to teachers and staff of recognized private schools. This is yet another example for the Chief Minister’s humanitarian thinking, he said.

The Industries Minister said shortly notifications will be issued for recruitments into different government jobs. He said many developmental works were under progress in Hyderabad and efforts were being made to complete them at the earliest.

GHMC was striving hard in setting up more public toilets for the convenience of citizens, however a few miscreants were damaging the facilities and stealing taps and other materials from the toilets, he said adding 50 FOBS were being constructed across the city for the convenience of pedestrians.

Amidst these high voltage question and answers session, the Minister came up with humour.

After tweeting a image of the Minister during his younger days, a twitterati asked him whether he was interested in trying a hand in Bollywood or Hollywood films, the Minister replied that he was exaggerating things. On the recent movies, he said “Jathi Rathnalu” was good.

Similarly, when asked about his favorite cricketer, he replied that it was Rahul Dravid. In the same tone, he also said these days he was liking Virat Kohli more.

On the personal front, when he was asked about kind of suggestions he gives his children, the Minister replied that he always tells them to follow their heart.
