BRS working president KT Rama Rao once again displayed his humanitarian commitment by rescuing a 28-year-old Telangana woman trapped in abuse in Oman. She reached India safely on Sunday.

Afrin, a resident of Godavarikhani, had gone to Oman for employment following an agent’s assurance.

Employed as a domestic help, she faced severe harassment by her employer who had her locked up, denied food, and subjected to continuous physical and mental abuse. Her attempts to escape turned futile and no help came when she reached out to

several people, but in vain.

Learning about her ordeal through a BRS worker, Rama Rao acted promptly and directed party leader Harish Reddy from Ramagundam to intervene. Soon the BRS working president’s office coordinated with the Indian Embassy in Oman. To secure her release, Rs 1.2 lakh was paid to a local agent, and she was safely brought back to Hyderabad.

On arrival, Afrin visited Telangana Bhavan to thank Rama Rao in person on Sunday. Overcome with emotion, she tied a rakhi to his wrist, calling him a protective elder brother.
