BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Friday dismantled Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, over his practice of frustration politics and mastering the art of evasion instead of governance. He said the Chief Minister appeared perpetually irritated by questions, allergic to accountability and visibly unsettled by even the mention of BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Speaking at Telangana Bhavan after welcoming Congress leader Dosala Anil Reddy and his supporters from Serilingampally constituency into the BRS, Rama Rao alleged that the past two years under the Congress rule had been marked by demolitions of poor people’s houses in the name of HYDRAA, explosions at check dams to benefit the sand mafia, and a wholesale abandonment of electoral promises.
He said Revanth Reddy’s conduct had lowered the dignity of the Chief Minister’s Office and exposed his inability to answer serious questions raised by Chandrashekhar Rao. “When the Leader of the Opposition asks questions on behalf of the people, the Chief Minister must respond with accountability, not intimidation,” he said.
Chandrashekhar Rao had earlier questioned the delay in completing the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project in last two years, despite the previous BRS government completing 90 per cent of the work earlier. He questioned why no action was taken even months after the DPR was returned by the Centre and why the Congress government was compromising Telangana’s rights in inter-State river water sharing.
“Unable to counter these questions with facts, the Chief Minister had resorted to personal attacks and abusive rhetoric. One
press conference by KCR and the Chief Minister starts sweating. Imagine what will happen, if KCR enters the Assembly?” he asked, terming frustration and abusive language as Revanth Reddy’s default response whenever uncomfortable questions were raised about unfulfilled promises.
Reacting to repeated personal remarks by Revanth Reddy against the BRS supremo, Rama Rao said he could not remain silent as a son and party worker. “One day he speaks about KCR’s injury and prays for his death, another day he questions his fitness. Such language angers anyone. Yet I restrain myself only out of respect for the constitutional office,” he said. However, he warned that restraint should not be mistaken for weakness and he could respond fitting in not just one but in four languages.
On governance, he said the Chief Minister had perfected the politics of evasion, recalling promises made before the elections to provide Rs 1 lakh and one tola of gold under Kalyana Lakshmi and Rs 2,500 per month to women. “After evading all that, he now talks of making one crore women millionaires. Does the budget even support this fantasy?” he asked. He found fault with Revanth Reddy’s indecent and intimidating language, whenever people questioned. He stated that the Congress government has failed to show any meaningful development and is surviving only on abusive politics.
Rama Rao recalled that BRS had won GHMC without alliances and secured 23 MLA seats in Hyderabad, asserting the party’s enduring connect with the city. He said attempts to divide the GHMC would not dilute people’s mandate and expressed confidence that Chandrashekhar Rao would return as Chief Minister.
