IT and industries minister K.T. Rama Rao left for the United States on Tuesday for a two-week visit to meet the industry leaders and businesses in a bid to drum up investments for Telangana. He is expected to return by May 30.

During his tour, the minister will showcase the Telangana state government’s remarkable accomplishments in the last nine years on a global platform. Rama Rao will hold meetings with companies in various cities spread across five states. 

Some of the companies are likely to make investment announcements during his meetings. The minister will also speak about the socio economic progress achieved in Telangana through the Kaleshwaram project and Mission Bhagiratha.

The minister was invited to deliver the inaugural address at the American Society of Civil Engineers — World Environmental & Water Resources Congress to be held in Henderson, Nevada, USA. He was also requested to speak about the world's largest lift irrigation project, Kaleshwaram, and Mission Bhagiratha, which provide drinking water to every home, as well as their role in reshaping



Telangana's landscape.

In 2017, Rama Rao attended the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) conference in Sacramento, California. During the course of his speech, the minister explained a number of important water initiatives undertaken by the Telangana government, such as Mission Bhagiratha. Impressed by Rama Rao’s address, a team from ASCE toured Telangana in 2022. They went on a field visit to the Kaleshwaram project and called it a game changer in Telangana’s irrigation water sector.

Impressed by the scale of the project and incredible speed with which the world’s largest lift irrigation project was built, ASCE invited the minister to showcase the Telangana government’s success story in the US. He expressed his joy at getting the opportunity to explain to the world the achievements of the Telangana government in the field of irrigation under the leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He said that Telangana, which was once stricken by drought, is now flourishing with lush green fields because of the vision of the CM.
