Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao who is on a tour to the US has met top technology leaders in the Silicon Valley. He explained them the investment opportunities in the State and how Hyderabad is emerging as an attractive location to global technology companies.

He met Intel Group president (Manufacturing, Operations and Sales) Stacy J Smith and CFO Bob Swan at the company’s headquarters. He invited the company to send a delegation to Telangana to explore investment opportunities and said the city is suitable for Intel to set up its facilities with global technology majors such as Google and Apple already opting Hyderabad for their largest centres outside the US.

KTR mentioned about the availability of infrastructure and talent pool for the companies setting up or expanding their operations in Hyderabad. As the Central government is boosting manufacturing in the country with its ‘Make in India’ campaign, he asked Intel to look at Hyderabad while drawing India expansion plans.

The Minister also met global electronics major Flextronics chief Doug Britt at its headquarters. Explaining the advantages of the electronics and industrial policy of the State, KTR sought the company to set up an electronics



manufacturing plant in the State in the proposed medical devices park.

Dug Brit informed that his company is exploring to expand its operations both in electronics and other areas. And having evaluated several State policies in the country, the company finds Telangana’s industrial policy progressive. He evinced interest to collaborate with T-Works initiative of the State. Brit informed that Flextronics’ affiliate NEXTracker will set up its labs in Telangana, which will focus on photo voltaic, solar and storage design and manufacturing.

The delegation led by the IT minister also met with the senior management team at the cloud computing company Cloudera led by Daniel Struman. Both sides discussed the opportunities in cloud computing and big data. KTR explained the use of data analytics in traffic, police and revenue departments as well as the Citizen 360 initiative under which government schemes are being implemented ensuring that there are no leakages.

The State has invited the company to take part in the upcoming data analytics park and establish a centre of excellence as part of the open data initiative introduced by the government for which a dedicate portal has already been created.
