BRS working president KT Rama Rao held Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directly responsible for the large-scale felling of trees in Kancha Gachibowli, abutting the University of Hyderabad. He castigated the Chief Minister for making the officials face the Supreme Court’s wrath for his misdeeds.
During its recent hearing on Thursday, the Supreme Court questioned the State government’s intent and warned contempt action over the destruction of forest land during the vacation period, unless restoration is not taken up.
Taking to X, Rama Rao said Revanth Reddy’ misdeeds have brought Telangana officials to the brink of jail. He asserted that immediate restoration of Kancha Gachibowli forest is
non-negotiable or Revanth Reddy must be prepared for legal repercussions. “Attempts to evade accountability will not succeed, justice demands answers,” he declared.
The BRS working president termed the attempt to sell Kancha Gachibowli land as an act of corruption and betrayal, involving Rs 10,000 crore scam. He said the Congress government deploying bulldozers over a long weekend to circumvent oversight and destroy green cover is a clear violation of environmental laws.
“These reckless actions jeopardise our ecosystem and undermine the rule of law. Kancha Gachibowli’s forests must be protected, and it is high time you (Revanth Reddy) take responsibility for the whole mess,” he added.
