BRS working president KT Rama Rao and party deputy floor leader T Harish Rao extended greetings to the weavers community and remembered their contribution to the nation on National Handloom Day. They criticised the Congress government for pushing the handloom sector into a fresh crisis.
In a statement, Rama Rao said Telangana’s handloom workers, known for their exceptional weaving skills, faced
severe hardships and migration in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. He credited the previous BRS government with encouraging their revival through schemes including Nethannaku Cheyutha, Nethanna Bima, Bathukamma sarees, loan waivers and pensions.
He called for greater support to the handloom sector and said protecting the livelihoods of weavers was essential for preserving Telangana’s traditional craft.
