BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused the Congress government of allowing large-scale destruction of greenery in Telangana and demanded strict action against those responsible.

He said around 200 trees were felled in a Palle Prakruthi Vanam initiated by the previous BRS government at Jinugurala in Devarakadra mandal of Mahabubnagar district.

He pointed out that the Palle Prakruthi Vanam was developed during the previous BRS regime, with former Chief

Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s vision to ensure greenery in every village.

Calling the tree-felling incident a wicked act, Rama Rao said not only people but even green cover was being targeted under the current Congress regime. He pointed out that check dams were being damaged, tanks were being encroached upon, agriculture was adversely affected and traditional occupations ruined, under the Congress rule.

“Now, even shady trees are not being spared,” he added.
