The district police seized ganja worth Rs 3.49 crore and arrested six smugglers.
The ganja weighing around 698 kg was seized during vehicle inspections by Tekulapally police and CCS police near Mutyalampadu crossroads under Tekulapally police station limits. The substance was being smuggled in the guise of parcel services in a mini truck.
Investigation revealed that the ganja was being illegally transported from Sileru forest area of Andhra Pradesh to Kurukshetra area of Haryana State on the orders of Prince Kumar of Kurukshetra
district.
The six arrested persons, Sandeep Kumar, Lakwinder, Amar Nath Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Raj Kumar, Krishan Kumar of Haryana State were sent to court for judicial remand. Cases were booked against the seller Hari Khara and the receiver Prince Kumar.
The mini truck carrying the ganja, car used as an escort and five mobile phones were seized. SP B Rohith Raju appreciated Tekulapally CI, T Suresh, SI A Rajender, CCS Inspector Ramakanth, SIs Praveen, Rama Rao and the staff for seizing ganja and catching the accused.
