Principal district and sessions judge Patil Vasanth on Tuesday pronounced the verdict sentencing Sheikh Bhasha, accused in the murder of Kethepalli Sudhakar of Ganesh Basthi in Kothagudem, to life imprisonment.

On September 9, 2021, the then Laxmidevipally Station House Officer Anjaiah registered a case based on the complaint of Kethepalli Suresh, brother of the deceased. The then Inspector of Police Guruswamy took up investigation.

When Sudhakar refused to lend

money, Sheikh Bhasha of Chatakonda in Laxmidevipally mandal developed a grudge against Sudhakar. The accused took him to a eucalyptus plantation, hit him hard on the head with an iron rod and killed him. Later, he stole his gold chain and a ring and fled.

After ascertaining Bhasha’s involvement in the murder through phone call record, CI Guruswamy filed a chargesheet in the court. After examining 16 witnesses in the case, the verdict was announced, sentencing the accused to life imprisonment.
