KCR should defend 4% Muslim quota: Shabbir Ali

Former Congress minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir demanded that the state Government engage a team of senior lawyers to fight the case of 4 per cent Muslim reservation, which is likely to come up for hearing from September 13 in the Supreme Court.

On Saturday, Shabbir Ali said he had a detailed discussion with Supreme Court senior counsel and former Union minister Salman Khursheed at his office in New Delhi on the



issue.

Later, in a media statement, Shabbir Ali alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, who came to power by promising a 12 per cent reservation to Muslims, never showed interest in defending the 4 per cent quota. He said the CM had never held a meeting with the law department, Advocate General or any legal expert on how to defend the Muslim quota.
