K Chandrashekhar Rao, president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former Chief Minister, stressed the need for more historical research-oriented novels to be written in Telangana, which has a rich and vast history.
He was speaking after Thigulla Krishnamurthy, Editor of Namaste Telangana, and senior writer Vardelli Venkateshwarlu met him and presented a copy of the novel “Kondamallu” at his residence in Erravalli on Thursday.
On the occasion, Chandrashekhar Rao enquired about the preface of the novel, which was written from a new perspective based on research into the 800-year-old
Palanati Seema history and the social aspects of the Chenchus. He also enquired about the life and culture of the Nallamala Chenchus, who are spread across Nalgonda and Nagarkurnool districts in Telangana, as well as parts of Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, and their present needs.
Assuring that he would read the novel, the BRS president complimented Venkateshwarlu for bringing out the book and stressed the need for more contemporary writers to emerge from Telangana.
“Write a novel focusing on the historical aspects of Telangana in the future,” Chandrashekhar Rao suggested to Venkateshwarlu.
