Collector Pamela Satpathy and Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam on Monday inspected the damaged check dam in River Manair.

While the Collector reached the location in a jeep, the CP travelled by bike, and both walked to the final stretch of the site and examined the damaged structure along with forensic experts.

Following allegations from local residents, public representatives and political leaders that the sand mafia had blasted the check dam constructed across the river between Thanugula in Jammikunta mandal and Gumpula in Odela mandal, the officials

visited the spot.

During interactions with officials, they enquired about the nature of the damage. Forensic experts collected samples from the location.

Local farmers alleged that the sand mafia had blasted the check dam to clear the way for illegal transportation of sand. Responding to the allegation, the CP said it was not possible to conclude that the structure was blasted without proper evidence.

He added that the exact reasons would be known after the forensic report and further action would be taken based on its findings.
