In a bid to develop Karimnagar as a dumper bin-free city, Municipal Corporation officials have stepped up measures to curb indiscriminate garbage dumping.

Along with closing open dumping points, CCTV cameras are being installed to identify offenders. Officials have also decided to impose fines on those throwing garbage on roads, with plans to display photographs to name and shame violators as well.

Despite repeated appeals to hand over waste to

municipal vehicles collecting it door to door, several residents continue to dump garbage on roads and at dumper bins.

To check this, the Corporation will levy a fine of Rs 1,000 on first-time offenders. Repeat violators will face a higher penalty.

CCTV surveillance will help trace those disposing waste at unauthorised locations. Open dumping spots are being fenced off, and warning flex boards are being displayed to caution residents against violations.
