Former Congress Minister and MLC T Jeevan Reddy formally joined the BRS in the presence of party chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao at the ‘BRS Praja Ashirvada Sabha’ held in Jagtial on Monday. On the occasion, Chandrashekhar Rao immediately announced his appointment as the party’s general secretary.
Calling Jeevan Reddy as a seasoned leader with a wide support base, Chandrashekhar Rao said his entry would significantly strengthen the party, particularly in the undivided Karimnagar district and neighbouring regions. He said Jeevan Reddy enjoyed influence not only in Jagtial but also in the neighbouring constituencies.
He also
entrusted the former Minister with the responsibility of strengthening the party in key districts such as Adilabad and Nizamabad, while asking him to leave the organisational fight in Jagtial to local cadre.
The BRS chief recalled that the two shared a friendship spanning over four decades despite being in different parties. “Now, we will work like brothers in a family, as pillars of the party,” he said, adding that Jeevan Reddy had joined BRS with the larger goal of serving Telangana rather than for political gain.
He said leaders like Jeevan Reddy, who understand the region’s history and aspirations, were vital for safeguarding the State’s future.
