The secretary of Janapriya Lake Front Society in Kapra, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, who called a teenage Muslim boy a “Pakistani” during an argument, has apologised unconditionally for his Islamophobic remark.
“I apologise to everyone who was hurt by my remarks. I also apologise to the boy. The words were not intentional,” the managing committee secretary said.
He further expressed respect towards the Muslim community. “Most of my tenants are Muslims. I did not mean to insult them,” he said.
On June 19, a
video became massively viral after the managing committee secretary called a teenage boy “Pakistani” during an argument over an unregistered tenant, triggering a confrontation with police personnel present at the scene.
The teenager is heard pushing back angrily, citing his family’s military service. His grandfather, he said, had served as a Subedar in the Indian Army. “Don’t call me Pakistani; I am an Indian,” he shouted back.
The secretary is heard responding, “I am just asking if you are a Pakistani; why are you staying here?”
