ISRO Centre to be set up in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to open an exclusive research centre in Hyderabad for start-ups, academicians and entrepreneurs.

This is for the first time that ISRO is setting up such an exclusive research facility in Telangana that is specifically aimed at start-ups and exploring the possibility of developing products based on geospatial technology, which includes data generated through Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Satellite Remote Sensing.

Entire satellite research data of India and neighboring countries collected by ISRO satellites over the last few decades and stored in various research centers in India will be made accessible to young



researchers through this Centre in Hyderabad.

The exclusive facility will encourage start-ups with brilliant ideas and transforming the ideas into products. The ISRO Centre is expected to be inaugurated by the end of this month at National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Jeedimetla.

“This will be a unique opportunity to youngsters and start-ups. Large number of both Indian academic institutions and student community can take advantage of the faculty. Using this huge ISRO data, entrepreneurs and youngsters can find solutions for product generation, which will be useful for the nation,” said Chairman, ISRO, Dr. A. S. Kiran Kumar, during a visit to Hyderabad on the occasion of National Technology Day here on Friday.
