Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today directed the officials to ensure supply of water to irrigate 4.6 lakh acres in Mahbubnagar district during the Kharif season.

Monitoring the ongoing projects in Mahbubnagar district here on Sunday, the minister said since rains started pouring, the officials should expedite the completion of the works related to various projects. He asked them to supply waters to irrigate 1.5 lakh acres each through Kalwakurty and Nettempadu projects, 1.4 lakh acres through Bheema project and 20,000 acres through Koilsagar project by end of July. “For this the officials should coordinate and make vigorous efforts to achieve the target. Since the government released funds, the officials should pay bills to the contract agencies without delay”.

With persistent interaction with officials and groups at the project site, the minister was encouraging them for speedy completion of the works.  Stating that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was evincing keen interest on the completion of the projects in the Palamur district, the officials should work in that direction, Harish Rao said. The works of Nettempadu, Bheema and Koilsagar should be completed as per schedule, he added. As KCR promised during his speech at State Formation Day celebrations to irrigate 4.5 lakh acres in the Kharif season, it is time to focus on completing the work, the Irrigation minister added.

Engineer-in-Chief Khagender Rao informed the minister that they are inspecting the works of removing stones, grass and other useless material from distributory canals and field channels. The works are being expedited as per the Chief Minister’s direction to complete the works and reach the target, he added.
