The Government Railway Police (GRP) Secunderabad, in coordination with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), busted an interstate drug smuggling racket and arrested two peddlers, including a minor boy, at Secunderabad railway station on Saturday.

Officials seized 37.5 kg of marijuana worth Rs 18.7 lakh during a surprise check. The accused were identified as Alu Siba (30), a bike mechanic from Odisha, and a 15-year-old boy. They were found carrying two trolley suitcases containing 19 packets

of marijuana.

Both had boarded the Visakha Express from Berhampur in Odisha and were waiting at the station to hand over the contraband to a contact in Mumbai.

Investigations revealed that Siba, lured with Rs 10,000 per trip, had already completed one successful delivery earlier.

The prime supplier, Bikram of Ganjam in Odisha, and Amou of Maharashtra, who was to receive the consignment, are absconding. Efforts are on to trace and arrest them.
