With the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls picking up pace, internet and online service centres across Hyderabad are witnessing a surge in visitors as people rush to complete and submit their enumeration forms.
Many centres are charging between Rs 100 and Rs 150 for filling and uploading each form. Long queues have been reported at several online service centres, with many voters preferring to complete the process online rather than wait for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to collect the forms.
“I took a prior appointment and visited an internet centre to submit my
form. There is no certainty that the form handed over to the BLO will reach the authorities in the end, so I preferred the online option,” said Khadeer Khan, a resident of Bibi ka Chashma.
At several centres, women were seen waiting for their turn to complete the formalities. Many said they wanted to finish the process well before the deadline instead of waiting for a visit from the BLO.
“The demand has increased sharply over the past few days. People don’t want to take any chances and are coming to us to complete the process,” said an operator at an internet centre in the Old City.
