Hyderabad: Students appearing for the Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) starting from Wednesday will not be allowed inside the examination centre even if they are late by a minute. 

The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) which has made elaborate arrangements for the conduct of IPE urged students to reach the centre one hour prior to the commencement of examination.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, A Ashok, Secretary, BIE, said students should reach the centre by 8 am and would be allowed into centre till 8.45 am. They would be given a grace time of 15 minutes between 8.45 and 9 am and then gates of the centre would be closed.

“No student will be allowed into exam venue after commencement of exam at 9 am. Students should fill bio-data on the OMR sheet between 8.45 am and 9 am. Candidates can use exam locator app to locate the venue,” he said. A total 9,42,719 including 4,52,550 first year and 4,90,169 second year students will be sitting for tests which will be held from February 27 to March 18.

The Board constituted 1,277 centres across the State and equal number of chief superintendents were appointed. As many as 1,227 departmental officers and 24,508 invigilators were also appointed to oversee conduct of examination. Hall tickets have been sent to all the junior colleges and the same has been uploaded on the Board’s website for download.

“Students can download hall tickets from the website and such hall tickets do not require signature of college principal concerned and they can directly appear for exam,” the Secretary said, adding that stern action would be initiated against private junior college managements if they refuse to issue hall tickets to students. He said centres have been equipped with



CCTVs and question papers would be opened amidst security and surveillance. Candidates would not allowed to carry any kind of printed or written material, cell phones, pagers, calculators or any other electronic gadgets into the examination hall.

“Authorities of the electricity department have been requested to provide uninterrupted power supply during the examinations,” he said.

Helpline to work 24×7
As the helpline centre of the BIE had been receiving distress calls from students, authorities have decided to appoint professional counsellors besides the centre will operate round the clock. Presently, the centre is functioning from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm providing information students, parents and junior college managements. Till the last count on Monday, February witnessed 5,071 calls on an average of 203 a day.

Speaking to Telangana Today, A Ashok, Secretary, BIE said the Board would enter a MoU with a NGO and professional counsellors would be appointed.

Special buses for intermediate exams
For the upcoming Intermediate Public Examination (IPE) commencing from Wednesday, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has made elaborate arrangements to operate several special buses across Greater Hyderabad.

The IPE examinations will be held from February 27 to March 18 and zonal enforcement squad with six jeeps will be on surveillance duty to monitor the buses apart from supervisory staff who would be deployed at bus stops for informing students in boarding required route buses.
