An intermediate first year student reportedly gave birth to a dead foetus while she was appearing for the exams.
The 16-year-old inter-vocational student from a private college at Paloncha had appeared for the exam at an examination centre here on Friday.
After taking permission from the invigilator, she went to the washroom. As she did not return even after a long time, a sweeper was sent to the washroom to check on the student.
When the student said that she was having her periods, the
college sent her the necessary sanitary pads and napkins.
Later, when the sweeper was cleaning the washroom she found a lifeless foetus in the washroom basin. When the student was questioned, she explained what had happened and that she had put the baby in the basin so that no one would suspect her.
After the exam, the student was taken to the Government General Hospital in Kothagudem for treatment. Doctors said that the miscarriage occurred as the pregnant student had taken pills. The girl was said to be in good health.
